October 2023 Update Part 2 - Art Rework

Working with Artists

While half of my October was out of town or camping, I've begun working with a couple Artists on reworking some of the art work beyond upressing the textures and fixing up the models like I had done to get it working in Roblox. If I am to truly make this my own, it'll be worth adding the extra investment in making it look like a unique predecessor that may be a bit more fitting in the Roblox platform.


I've decided to try out 3 different concept artists to determine which direction to move forward.


Below, You'll see a series of images for each labeled section:

  • The first image is the upressed original from q2wf that will be defaulted in WFR

  • The second image is one of the art reimaginations for added customization options in WFR

Armor and Weapons Reimagined as an option

The first set of artwork here is done by an exceptional Artist that can shade the image to a high standard, along with unique reimaginations.

Another concept artist I'm working with is able to give each weapon some extra flavor. This set is my favorite thus far. I love that painterly look. More of that, yes please.

Quick sketches for more design options

The last artist was used to provide another unique perspective on the armor and weapon redesigns to consider, in case I wanted to go the route of many customization options. This artist could probably provide 10 unique versions of each.


What's Next in Quake 2 Weapons Factory Roblox?

As the end of the year begins to close with the last 3 months, and me being on a break for over 10 days, I'll be diving deep back into the project working towards:

  • Plan how I'll close out the work for the year 2023 in WFR to release a version of the game.

  • Plan what the 2024 roadmap looks like for more visibility and continued consistency.

Additionally,

  • I'll begin finding 3d artists to bring some of these concepts to life into WFR.

  • Continue working on an intermission section similar to Destiny 2's gambit game mode.

  • Create a new gameplay HUD as a customization option, similar to Destiny 2.

  • Begin weapons and grenades for sniper class moving into November.
